ABOUT ME

Alana Yoel is a mechanical engineer with a passion for combining arts
and technology, particularly in the field of fashion.
She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2011 with a B.S. in Mechanical
Engineering and a B.S. in Cognitive Science, with a concentration in Robotics.
After graduation, Alana moved to the Bay Area to co-found Agent of Presence (now Switch Embassy), a fashion technology company. In 2012, Agent of Presence released several
projects, including Presence of Heart, a dress that lights up in response to the
wearer's heartbeat and Geometry Darling, an illuminated handbag. These
projects resulted in international press coverage for Agent of Presence
(PandoDaily, NBC Bay Area, BravoTV, JournalDuNet).
Next, Alana spent her time learning about the world of manufacturing,
building desktop CNC machines at Other Machine Company. Currently, she helps design soft, compliant, pneumatically driven robots at Pneubotics, Inc.
